Pregnant Woman Attacked, Punched At Oneida St. House: JPD

JOLIET, IL —Chase Herman, a 27-year-old Joliet man, has been released from the Will County Jail after posting $40,000 bail in connection with Friday night's domestic violence that involved a pregnant woman being attacked in the 1000 block of Oneida Street, according to Joliet police.

Sometime after 10 p.m., Herman was hauled away from his Oneida Street house in handcuffs, arrested on charges of aggravated battery and domestic battery. Herman is accused of attacking the woman he knows and striking her in the head with a closed fist.

Officers determined that a woman who is 7 months pregnant was beaten by Herman.

During an argument, Herman grabbed the victim by the back of her neck and held her face down into a bed. When she tried to break away from Herman's grip and run upstairs, Herman grabbed her legs to stop her from climbing the stairs.

"Hermann then struck the victim twice in the head with a closed fist," English announced.

At his residence, Herman was arrested without any issues, and a Joliet Fire Department ambulance was called to Oneida Street to treat the victim’s injuries to her face.

She declined being taken to the hospital, according to police reports. As for Herman, he posted bond late Saturday afternoon, allowing him to regain his freedom while his case awaits trial.
