Public Nuisance On Midland Ave? Joliet Council To Decide
The Joliet City Council vote on the public nuisance recommendations takes place at City Hall on Tuesday night. How should the Council vote?

JOLIET, IL — A house on Joliet's Midland Avenue that has had not one, but two fires over the past year will come up for a Joliet City Council vote at Tuesday night's meeting to declare it a public nuisance.
The deteriorated property is at 852 North Midland Ave. and it's owned by Dorothy Clemens.
This single family home suffered a significant fire on April 1, 2021, a city of Joliet memo states. "Our first violation notice went out in 5/26/2021. The home suffered a second fire on 6/5/2022."

Officials from Joliet's neighborhood services division informed the Council that, "We have brought the owner to two administrative hearings seeking compliance with abatement of the violations."
A letter warning of a pending public nuisance declaration was mailed on April 11.

"The owner has not met any of the requirements or agreements made. There are no permits on file and the property is still sitting heavily damaged and a blight to the neighborhood," city officials stated.
