Rare Photos: Joliet Central, School Artifacts

What do you think of these old black and white photos?

JOLIET, IL - It's a building in Joliet like no other, and that's why the Joliet Central High School campus, home of the Steelmen, is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. The high school, 201 East Jefferson Street, was originally built in 1901. Now, 117 years later, we've chosen it as this week's area historical feature for the Joliet Patch.

The following images are courtesy of the Joliet Area Historical Museum's collection of rare artifacts and photos. Besides the construction, we've also included old photos of famous sculptor Louise Lentz Woodruff, creator of Steelman, The Puddler and The Doughboy.
