Reckless Driver Caused 5-Car Pileup At Plainfield Road: Crest Hill Police
Before the officer could do so, the vehicle turned south onto Plainfield Road and disregarded the traffic signal, authorities said.

CREST HILL — People all across Facebook were sharing photos of Wednesday morning's wreck that caused a vehicle to flip over on Plainfield Road. Now, the Crest Hill Police Department has issued its press release on the matter.
Chief Ed Clark said his agency is investigating the traffic crash that occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. at Plainfield Road and Theodore Street.
Moments prior to the crash, a Crest Hill police officer spotted a white Dodge Charger disregard the traffic signal at the intersection of northbound Larkin Avenue and Theodore Street. The officer then saw the same vehicle disregard another traffic signal on Larkin Avenue at the entrance to the
Hillcrest Shopping Center, 1701 N. Larkin Ave.

Clark said the officer attempted to catch up with the Charger to initiate a traffic stop. Before the officer could do so, the vehicle turned south onto Plainfield Road and disregarded the traffic signal at the intersection of Plainfield Road and Theodore Street. The Charger then struck another vehicle at the
intersection, resulting in a five-vehicle crash.
One of the vehicles overturned during the collision, Clark pointed out. One person went to St. Joseph Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver of the white Dodge Charger, 25-year-old Diego Hernandez of Crest Hill, was charged with the following
offenses:
• Aggravated Fleeing and Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer Causing Injury
• Reckless Driving
• Disobeying a Traffic Control Device
• Possession of Cannabis (10–30 grams)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Clark said that Hernandez was issued citations, given a notice to appear, and released pending a future court date. No mugshot was taken.
