Reckless Driver Leads Joliet Police On Wild Chase: Cops

Joliet police found the 20-year-old hiding under a pile of furniture behind a house in the 400 block of Morgan Street, officers say.

JOLIET, IL — Saturday night's Joliet police chase on the city's west side led to the capture of a 20-year-old resident found hiding under a pile of outdoor furniture in the 400 block of Morgan Street, police said.

Marco Jimenez-Molina, of the 300 block of Collins Street, was booked into the Will County Jail on Saturday night on charges of reckless driving, resisting arrest, aggravated fleeing and eluding the police, aggravated DUI and DUI.

Bail has been set at $25,000 for Jimenez-Molina, jail records indicate.

Around 7:30 p.m., Joliet officers tried to stop Jimenez-Melina for speeding near Hickory and Division Streets, police reports reflect. Instead of stopping, Jimenez-Melina accelerated, leading Joliet police on a chase that lasted for more than a mile, according to police.

When Jimenez-Molina got to Beach and Allen Streets, he ran from the car, according to police. Eventually, officers located Jimenez-Molina hiding under furniture in the backyard of a house on Morgan Street, police reports state.

"Jimenez-Molina admitted to drinking alcohol prior to driving and exhibited signs of alcohol impairment," police spokesman Dwayne English announced. "It was determined that Jimenez-Molina held an active Will County warrant for failing to appear in court for traffic charges."

On Saturday night, Joliet's Bob Hernandez produced a Facebook Live video, saying he was almost run over and killed by the motorist fleeing from the Joliet police cars.

"Police pursuing a truck and the truck almost hit my car on Broadway. It was going about 70 mph and I got off to the side by about a few seconds, or it would have rear-ended me," Hernandez informed all of his Facebook followers.
