Residential Arson Try In Crest Hill's Fox Meadow, Woman Poured Lighter Fluid On Brother: Prosecutors
Crest Hill police arrested Kaylen Marie Staley, 31, on charges of attempted arson and prosecutors want her detained under the SAFE-T-Act.

CREST HILL, IL — A 31-year-old woman in Crest Hill now faces the prospect of being detained indefinitely under the SAFE-T-Act after Will County's prosecutors have charged Kaylen Marie Staley with attempted residential arson upon her own family's home earlier this week.
According to the petition to deny pretrial release, Crest Hill police officers responded to the house on Tuesday in the 2500 block Fox Meadow Drive. The defendant's mother said that Staley had poured lighter fluid all around the door to the residence, court records show.
The defendant then walked off and was located in the area. Prosecutors said that Staley admitted to pouring lighter fluid on the door and she had a lighter in her purse.

"She stated that she had a job orientation meeting today and was upset that (her family member) would not pick her up after the meeting. She returned to the residence and argued with (her). (The mother) told her to leave. She tried to go back inside, after leaving, and her brother ... would not let her back inside. She was upset and tried to pour the lighter fluid on (her brother) but poured it on to the door. She said the lighter fluid would cause him difficulty in breathing based on his
health problems. The residence is listed in the reports as where she resides with her mother and brother," prosecutor Steven Platek outlined in his petition to deny pretrial release.
