Robber Stole Over $1,000 Cash From Business In Joliet: Police

Police are seeking the public's help to identify the thief, they said.

JOLIET, IL — Police are seeking the public’s help to find a person who stole over $1,000 in cash from a cellphone store in Joliet, authorities said.

Officers responded around 12:45 p.m. Saturday to a Cricket Wireless store in the 400 block of Collins Street for a reported robbery, according to police.

According to an employee, a male entered the store with one hand hidden under his jacket, indicating a weapon, and demanded money from the register, police said. Once he had the cash, he fled on foot, according to police, who said no one was hurt.

The person was 5-foot-6 or 5-foot-7 with a skinny build and short brown curly hair, police said. He was wearing a gray and black Adidas hoodie, black jogger pants, blue tennis shoes, black sunglasses, and a black neck gaiter, which concealed his face, according to police.

Detectives are seeking video surveillance footage from between noon and 1 p.m. Saturday in the area west of Collins Street and north of Cass Street, police said.
