3 Men Rob Collins Street Cricket Store Of Cash, Phones: Police

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police were investigating a Monday night robbery that happened at the Cricket wireless cell phone store near the intersection of Collins and Clay Streets on the city's east side. A woman who worked in the store was not hurt.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said Monday's robbery happened at 6:30 p.m. The Cricket Wireless store is at 425 Collins St.

Police said the three men entered the store and asked about purchasing phones. The employee inside the Cricket store tried to help them and that's when they announced a robbery, according to Joliet police reports.

"A firearm was implied but never seen," English indicated.

The three robbers forced the woman into a back room and locked her in a bathroom, police said. The men then stole several iPhones, plus cash, before running away.
