Rockdale Crash Leaves Motorist Fighting For Survival, Route 6 Closed Down As Illinois State Police Arrive
Rockdale police and Illinois State Police are working Tuesday afternoon's crash along Route 6 near Joliet.

ROCKDALE, IL — Rockdale Police Chief Butch Dykstra said that a man who was driving his car on Tuesday afternoon suffered life-threatening injuries when he collided with a semi cab along Route 6 in a head-on crash.
The chief said that both vehicles were heading east and west respectively and one of them veered over the center lines and hit the other. The wreck happened at 2 p.m. The semi cab driver was not hurt. The man driving the car was taken by Rockdale EMS to St. Joe's hospital, and his injuries are definitely life-threatening, the police chief said.
Because of the collision, Route 6 has been closed from Brandon Road all the way to Larkin Avenue as the Illinois State Police has arrived to handle the reconstruction, Dykstra said.
