Rockdale Woman Breaks House Window In Joliet: Police

Mercedes Meadows, 24, had arrived at the residence to retrieve her child from the child's father, according to Joliet police.

JOLIET, IL — A 24-year-old Rockdale woman was arrested Tuesday night after Joliet police say Mercedes Meadows drove to a man's house in the 400 block of East Washington Street, where she shattered one of his windows and then drove off.

Officers later found her at the Food 4 Less store in the 1700 block of North Larkin Avenue. She was taken into custody at the retail business without any problems, police noted.

Joliet police charged Meadows with criminal damage to property.

Around 8:15 p.m., squad cars went to the house on Washington Street for a disturbance.

"It was determined that Meadows had arrived at the residence to retrieve her child from the child’s father," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said. He said that Meadows grew angry as she was outside the home, and that's when she broke a window on the rear of the residence.

According to police reports, Meadows was later released from custody on an I-Bond.
