JOLIET, IL — Sunday night's floods left Joliet's Route 53, the main road used by semi-trailers, washed out and closed. But Friday afternoon, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced that all the emergency road repairs were completed.

For the past five days, the state shut down Route 53, also known as Chicago Street, between Patterson Road and Doris Avenue. Sunday's flood waters tore up huge sections of pavement along Route 53 leaving the four-lane road unusable for cars and trucks on Joliet's southeast side.

At 1:45 p.m. Friday, the DOT issued a news release informing everyone that U.S. 53/Illinois 53 in Joliet was fixed and reopen for motorists.
