Route 59 Walmart: Joliet Police Arrest Convicted Thief

JOLIET, IL — A 23-year-old man who lives in the Plainfield area was arrested this month in connection with a shoplifting crime at the Walmart store on Route 59. Joliet Police officers hauled away William Lassiter in handcuffs on Oct. 4. He has been charged with one count of retail theft.

According to his criminal complaint, Lassiter is accused of stealing a cellular phone from the Joliet Walmart. Prosecutors informed the judge that they are seeking an enhanced sentence against Lassiter because he has a 2014 conviction for retail theft, also here in Will County.

Lassiter, who lives in the 7400 block of Atkinson Circle, spent five days in the Will County Jail until posting 10 percent of his $30,000 bail, on Oct. 9, court records reflect.
