Route 66 Raceway's Most Explosive Night of Drag Racing Saturday
Unleash the heat and light up the night at the Four Seasons Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing Burndown at Sundown.

As the sun goes down on Route 66 Raceway on Saturday, the track heats up.
The Four Seasons Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing Burndown at Sundown will return for the most explosive night of drag racing at the World’s Premier Drag Racing Facility. The night features a fire-festival theme that consisting of jet-propelled cars rocketing to speeds near 300 miles per hour and much more.
Burndown at Sundown coincides with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series exhibition, where more than 500 cars will lay it on the line as they contend for their respective class championship during three days of racing starting Friday.

Also returning this year is the U.S. Freestyle Motocross Team (USFMX). The high-energy aerial antics of Team USFMX will soar high above the race rack as they perform heart pounding, death defying tricks like the "Kiss of Death.”
Their debut performance last year took the crowd by storm as they defied gravity, jumping 60’ ramp to ramp while performing tricks in midair.

Feel the heat? Be sure to beat the heat at the beer garden and rock out with live entertainment provided by Maiden Chicago. The evening will be capped off with a firework finale.
Burndown at Sundown is a night that will surely bring fire to life!
For the kids, Route 66 Raceway Kids Club Members will be given VIP access, including an up-close viewing area with access to the staging area and an exclusive driver autograph session.
Not a Kids Club Member yet? No problem! Visit the Route 66 Raceway Fan Pit Stop on event day to register children 12 years of age and younger. Those who sign-up on Saturday will have the same exclusive opportunities offered throughout the day.
The night will conclude with a fire-breathing performance by Logan Cruz, whose set is a hybrid of art, dance and circus. The inherent danger adds to the excitement and closes out the most explosive night in drag racing.
Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series
The Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series (LODRS) is the premier Sportsman racing program in motorsports: It is where the future stars of NHRA Drag Racing develop their skills.
The three-day event at Route 66 Raceway will be held July 12-14 and is expected to showcase upwards of 500 vehicles from 10 classes including: Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman.
Racers compete across the nation in 44 divisional and 24 regional events. With hundreds of cars in 10 different classes, LODRS truly has something for everyone.
Exhibition content
In addition to the spectacle of cars the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will gather, Route 66 Raceway has lined up a true display of fire and brimstone. Cars such as the following will tear it up on the dragstrip Saturday:
- Jet Truck – Dave Modder’s Dragon’s Fyre Jet Truck is a 1940 Ford pick-up truck powered by a General Electric J-85 after-burning turbo jet engine. The Dragon's Fyre Jet Truck is the only one of its kind.
- Jet Dragster – Larsen Motorsports will present two jet dragsters piloted by Elaine Larsen and DeWayne Hill. Larsen prides herself in being a female jet car racer who had the guts to go for the glory, while Hill is U.S. Marine who served for eight years and has a passion for large, loud toys.
- Jet Funny Car - Barry Richter's Hypersonic Jet Funny Car is propelled by a fire-breathing jet engine and can reach speeds up to 280 miles per hour in a quarter-mile!
- Al Zukauskas’s Hot Blade – Zukauskas will present a spectacle on the quarter-mile as he rockets to speeds approaching 300 mph.
About Top Alcohol Dragster & Funny Car
As a part of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars will be on display. Top Alcohol Dragsters use supercharged methanol-burning engines or an injected nitromethane combination that can reach speeds of 285 mph.
The injected nitro cars do not use a transmission, and the supercharged cars have three forward speeds that launch them down the quarter-mile in 5.1 seconds.
Similar in physical appearance to their nitro-burning Funny Car counterparts, Top Alcohol Funny Cars are restricted to the use of methanol fuel and have a three-speed transmission that allow for the vehicles to reach speeds of 270 mph. Top Alcohol Funny Cars are capable of completing a quarter mile in 5.3 seconds.
About Sportsman Racing
Last but not least, fans will witness 200 mph door slammers in Top Sportsman class as well as a plethora of stock and super stockers as part the of NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competition.
The spectacle of fire and explosion on Saturday will begin at 5 p.m. although racing will take place throughout the entire day.
Tickets for the Four Seasons Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing Burndown at Sundown are only $18 in advance and $22 at the gate. Children 12 years of age and younger are admitted for $5.
