Men With 'I Have The Coronavirus' Sign Sprayed Lysol On Food: JPD

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department say two young men entered the Walmart on Route 59 Sunday afternoon and sprayed Lysol on several items of produce, clothing and health and beauty products. One of the people wore a mask and had a handmade sign taped to his back that declared, "Caution I have the Coronavirus," police said.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday. According to police, the pair were last seen driving a white 2003 GMC Yukon registered to someone in Oswego. The two people looked to be in their 20s, authorities noted.

Walmart told detectives that the damage caused to their produce amounted to more than $7,300, and the cleanup efforts cost the business another $2,400.
