RUSH: I-80 Safety Meeting Includes Toll Road Talk
The grassroots coalition has been spearheading efforts to improve the dangerous I-80 corridor near Joliet.
JOLIET, IL — At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, dozens of people are expected to flock to the Joliet Junior College campus for the third-ever public meeting of the Residents United for Safer Highways. RUSH, which is spearheaded by WJOL's morning show host Scott Slocum, has made major strides in generating more attention from state lawmakers in Springfield about the dangerous and outdated stretch of Interstate 80, between Minooka and New Lenox.
Wednesday night's event will provide the audience with updates on efforts to make long-needed safety improvements along I-80 and nearby roads and bridges.
There will also be discussion on the prospect of converting I-80 into a toll road between Route 47 and Interstate 294.
