Sam's Club Sued For Slip And Fall

The case was filed Thursday.

JOLIET, IL - On Jan. 22, Hector Paz went shopping at the Sam's Club store in Joliet. Eight months later, lawyers from the Joliet law firm of McNamara Phelan McSteen visited the Will County Courthouse to file a new civil lawsuit against Walmart, doing business as Sam's Club. The reason for the lawsuit? Their Joliet client's visit to the Sam's Club in late January.

The lawsuit states that Sam's Club invited Paz "to enter the premises on Jan. 22, 2018. That as a direct and proximate result of one or more of the foregoing acts or omissions, Hector Paz was caused to then and there to fall upon the ground below him as he attempted to enter the premises via the vestibule located at the front."

"Hector Paz did suffer serious injuries and grievous injuries or a personal and pecuniary nature, both internally and externally ... the plaintiff was caused to and did lose much time from his employment, thereby incurring loses of large sums of money including wage loss ...."

McNamara Phelan McSteen has asked that Will County's judicial system award Hector Paz "a sum in excess of $50,000 and for such other relief the court deems appropriate."

The entire lawsuit is about a page and a half long. It was filed by attorney Thomas P. Polacek.
