Saw It on eBay: Uno Deluxe Board Game

The game Uno has a big tie to Joliet because the man who would make it an international hit was former Will County Coroner Robert Tezak.

The card game Uno has a big tie to Joliet. The man who would become a multimillionaire manufacturing and marketing the game was Robert Tezak, a Joliet funeral home director and former Will County coroner, who bought the rights from its creator in 1972.

This board game, being sold on eBay, was produced just six years later, in 1978.

Because of its age and the fact that it's still in very good shape, the seller has started the auction at $15.99, or you can buy it immediately for $18.99. Either way you won't pay shipping, which is being provided for free.

The seller says there are names on one of the score cards but plenty of others that are unused. The box shows "very little wear."

(As a footnote, Robert Tezak eventually sold the game to Mattel in 1992, a fortune he lost because he was convicted in 1994 of burning down a Crest Hill bowling alley and served nine years in federal prison.)
