
JOLIET, IL - The Joliet Police Department is investigating an early morning fatality that claimed the life of a 55-year-old Chicago truck driver. The Will County Coroner's Office announced that Alvaro Vanegas was pronounced dead around 4:20 a.m. Friday in the 3000 block of CenterPoint Way in Joliet. Coroner's officials said that Vanegas had been driving a semi truck at the Joliet intermodal center. Vanegas was trying to connect his semi to the truck when he became trapped and was killed.
The coroner's office press hotline did not indicate the name of the trucking company involved in the fatality.
Coroner's officials said that an autopsy was performed but the final cause and manner of death are pending further investigation as well as toxicology screens.
