VIDEO: Semi Driver Pulls Joliet Man From Burning Car
Had it not been for the heroic action of this semi-driver, the driver probably would not have survived, Joliet Fire Chief Jeff Carey noted.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Fire Chief Jeff Carey announced that a semi-truck driver saved the life of a motorist whose car engulfed in flames following a crash late Wednesday night. You can watch the Joliet police body camera video of the car fire at the bottom of this story.
On Friday morning, Carey learned that the semi truck driver's name was Rashpal Saini, who drivers for the Hub group out of Indiana.
Carey said that Joliet Fire Department Company 3 along Laraway Road responded to the 10:06 p.m. crash involving a car that struck a light pole on Laraway Road near Patterson Road.

Company 3 found the car fully engulfed in fire, with a concrete light pole on top of it.
Before the fire department's arrival, a semi-truck driver passing by stopped and pulled the driver of the car to safety, Carey said.

The truck driver also tried to extinguish the fire with his fire extinguisher. The driver of the car had an altered level of consciousness from the crash, leaving him unable to get out of his burning vehicle.
"Had it not been for the heroic action of this semi-driver, the driver probably would not have survived," Carey announced.
The car fire was eventually extinguished by engine 3. Ambulance 3 transported the car's driver to Silver Cross Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
