Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect Until Midnight

According to the National Weather Service, the storms may produce heavy rainfall, flash flooding, wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH and isolated tornadoes.

A area of showers and scattered thunderstorms developed earlier this afternoon over northwest and north central Illinois, the NWS said. The storms are expected to spread east through the evening. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected north of I-88 with greater thunderstorm coverage along and south of I-88.
Strong to severe storms may be possible south of I-88.
