A 35-year-old Joliet man has been charged in connection with two separate incidents.

A woman who was sexually assaulted Saturday helped police track down a man they believe to be responsible for a separate similar incident.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, officers were sent to the area of southwest Frontage Rd. and I-55 in Channahon Township in reference to a missing female who had been jogging on the forest preserve trail.

After speaking with the victim, detectives were able to connect this case with another one from May 18 that occurred in the area of the Brandon Rd. locks near Route 6 in Joliet.

Through information obtained from the earlier investigation, detectives identified Miguel Luna, 35, of the 100 block of Union in Joliet, as a possible suspect, police said.

Luna was pulled over for a traffic stop and taken into custody for driving while license suspended. He was interviewed and confessed to both cases of sexual assault, according to police.

He has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated battery (strangulation), aggravated battery and unlawful restraint.

The Illinois State Police also identified Luna as the culprit in other cases they were investigating and charged him with aggravated battery, aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated unlawful restraint.
