Woman Kept Breaking Into Parked Cars At St. Joe's Hospital, Red Roof Inn Near Larkin: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — Jessica Rodak, a 33-year-old Joliet woman who police list as homeless, has been put into the Will County Jail following a series of vehicle break-ins and burglaries over the weekend.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:19 p.m. on Sunday, the officers responded to the Red Roof Inn at 1750 McDonough St. for a burglary to a motor vehicle.

English said that two hotel guests came out of their room after hearing vehicle alarms sounding in the parking lot. According to police, upon checking a Chevrolet Cruze belonging to one of
the guests, they discovered the driver’s door open and observed a woman, later identified as Jessica Rodak, near the vehicle. Rodak was reportedly in possession of
property believed to have been removed from the Chevrolet.

English said Rodak then entered a nearby Dodge Caravan, adding, "Responding officers found her seated inside the Dodge and took her into custody without incident ... Officers also determined that property had allegedly been removed from a second vehicle, a Chevrolet Equinox, and placed inside the Dodge. Rodak was also found to be in possession of keys belonging to the Equinox."

As it turned out, police said Rodak had previously been removed from the Red Roof Inn property and advised not to return.

Downtown, Rodak was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle and criminal trespass. She was processed and released on a Notice to Appear in court.

Following her release, Rodak was transported by the Joliet Fire Department to St. Joseph Medical Center after officers observed signs that she may have been under the influence of an unknown substance.

After Rodak was discharged from the hospital, officers were called back after she reportedly refused to leave the hospital property, English said. Officers repeatedly directed Rodak to leave the property and to stop attempting to open the doors of vehicles in the parking lot.

"Despite these warnings, officers reportedly observed Rodak attempting to open the doors of multiple vehicles on two separate occasions, including a Joliet Police Department squad vehicle," English said.

Rodak was subsequently taken into custody without incident and charged with three more counts of attempted criminal trespass to a vehicle. She was processed at the Joliet Police Department and taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility — her fourth stint in county lockup since October 2025.

Although Joliet police say Rodak is homeless, the jail listed her as being from the 1400 block of Joliet's Citadel Drive.
