Sheryl A. Jaquays, 75, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Rush Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and close friends.

Sheryl was born in Buffalo, NY on June 2, 1950, the daughter of the late John and Arlene Weidner. She graduated from Cardinal O’Hara High School in 1968. Shortly after, she married her high school sweetheart and moved to Chicago. Sheryl later held a long career as an Office Manager with her husband’s firm, which she retired from in 2025. Sheryl loved her family and friends fiercely. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family all over the world.

Sheryl is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edward Jaquays; daughters Courtenay Martin (Daniel) and Lindsay Jaquays; grandsons, Jacob and Luca Martin; sister, Nancy (Paul) Banas; and her brothers, Peter Weidner and Brian (Cathy) Weidner. She is also survived by her nieces and nephew, Karen Racle, Hillary Banas, Tiffany Banas, Corey (Kate) Weidner and Karli (Andrew) DePuy, many great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as many who loved and cherished her, calling her family.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kiley Jaquays (2002); her parents, John Weidner (2010) and Arlene Weidner (Gugino) (2002); and one brother, John Weidner (2018).

Funeral Services for Sheryl A. Jaquays will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. Joliet, IL, to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated in Sheryl’s name to Northern Illinois Food Bank or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
