Preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. Shortley, parents Edward and Lillian Hennings and her brothers William Hennings and James (Lois dec.) Hennings.

Shirley was a diehard Cub fan, but you never wanted to sit next to her at a game. She loved NHRA Drag Races and loved doing ceramics with her daughter. She was an election judge for many years and a volunteer at the Rialto. Shirley was a member of the women’s Auxiliary at Ingalls Park AC and the Will Co. Farm Bureau. She was well known as the “Fish Lady” while cooking fish on Friday’s at Shortley’s Corner. She enjoyed working as the staffing secretary within the staffing office at Silver Cross Hospital for 30+ years. She gained the respect from her fellow co-workers at Silver Cross. Shirley was the person you could never say no to. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. She was an Aunt, Great Aunt and Great-great Aunt to many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Sunny Hill Nursing Home, the 4th floor nursing at Silver Cross Hospital and Lightways Hospice for taking such exceptional care of our mom and geeg.
