Man, 27, Shot At Tezak Funeral Home Memorial Service

Joliet's news radio station, AM-1340 WJOL, broke the news of Thursday's non-fatal shooting in the Tezak Funeral Home parking lot.

JOLIET, IL — A 27-year-old man suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds during a shooting in the parking lot of the Tezak Funeral Home on Plainfield Road on Thursday night. The victim was attending a funeral service when the shooting happened around 7:45 p.m.

Sources told Joliet Patch the shooting victim drove himself to St. Joe's hospital after suffering two gunshot wounds. The funeral service taking place Thursday night at Tezak's was for a 25-year-old Joliet man.

At the hospital, the shooting victim was alert and talking, but he was very uncooperative with the Joliet police detectives seeking information about the shooting, sources said.

Patch has left a message seeking comment from representatives of Tezak Funeral Home. This story will be updated as more details of the violent crime are known.

There was also a gun homicide at an overnight house party on the east side, in Joliet Township, near the intersection of Briggs Street and Maple Road. The homicide is being investigated by the Will County Sheriff's Office.
