Shoplifter Pulls Knife On Joliet Walmart Worker: Police

Joliet police responded to the West Jefferson Street Walmart to make the felony arrest of the 50-year-old Michigan man Sunday night.

JOLIET, IL — A 50-year-old Michigan man trying to steal a television set was hauled away in handcuffs by Joliet police after pulling out a knife inside the Walmart store on West Jefferson Street and threatening to harm one of the workers, according to police. The man, Craig Albright, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and retail theft, police said.

Squad cars arrived at the Walmart on West Jefferson Street shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday.

" Officers determined that Albright selected a television within the store and walked out, passing the last point of purchase, without paying for the item," police said "A Walmart loss prevention employee attempted to stop Albright at the door. Albright produced a pocketknife and threatened to stab the employee."

At that point, Albright ditched the television set and tried to make a run for it, but he didn't get far, police reports show.

Albright "left the television and fled from the employee. Officers contacted Albright in the parking lot and placed him into custody without incident," police reports show.

The 50-year-old Mason, Michigan resident was booked into the Will County Jail around 11:10 p.m. He will go before a Will County judge for a bail hearing later Monday afternoon.
