Silver Spoon Returns After 8-Week Shutdown

JOLIET, IL — Another long-time locally owned restaurant has made a comeback. On Friday, Silver Spoon Family Restaurant reopened for business after an eight-week shutdown during the new coronavirus outbreak.

Silver Spoon, 1601 West Jefferson St., is now staying open daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"We bring it to them in the parking lot, or we can deliver it to them," one of the managers told Joliet Patch's editor late Friday morning. "The menu is the same, but we are working on making some family meals for people. That should be starting next week."

Carryout orders can be placed by calling Silver Spoon at 815-725-6202. Silver Spoon is also using DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub.

"We try to survive like everybody else," one of Silver Spoon's managers remarked. "We normally serve a lot of breakfast, breakfast omelettes, skillets, but we also serve sandwiches and a lot of wraps."

Friday marked the second straight day that a longtime Joliet business reopened after a several week layoff during the international health crisis. On Thursday, Joe's Hot Dogs, a Joliet fixture sine 1953, reopened on Plainfield Road.
