The Simon City Royals date back to 1952 when they formed on Chicago's North Side in Simon Park. The Simon City Royals went into the Lakeview area of Chicago in 1968, and claimed Lakeview HS as a base. Several of the founders were former members of the Aristocrats, The Corps, and Ashland Royals among others. Their colors became royal blue and black. The gangs continued as two separate entities in different parts of Chicago for decades to come.
The Simons merged with the Ashland Royals and became the Simon City Royals. The Simon City Royals were a principle founder of the Folk alliance in 1978. This created new allies for the Royals on the north side such as the Spanish Cobras, Orchestra Albany, Latin Disciples, Imperial Gangsters, and yes even the Latin Eagles. Due to the structure the Simon City Royals held in the prison systems the Black Gangster Disciples offered the Simon City Royals protection within the correctional facilities for exchange in firearms on the streets.
