Sports Bar With Pickleball Court Proposed In Joliet
Joliet's City Council voted in favor of the liquor license for Game Changers at Tuesday night's meeting.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday night to approve a liquor license for a new bar proposed near Route 6 toward Channahon. Kenneth Minor Sr. and Keith Minor want to construct a sports bar with a pickleball court on seven vacant lots inside City's Edge Business Park.
The proposed bar at 2620 City's Edge Drive would be called Game Changers. Construction hasn't started yet. The bar would go on a cul-de-sac inside the small industrial park off McClintock Road.
The property is zoned B-3, general business, city documents show.

The Minors told Joliet officials last month that their bar will have a sports theme, a variety of food offerings along with pickleball courts. Pickleball is a combination of regular tennis, table tennis and badminton, and it's been growing in popularity in recent years.
"The building (will) be large enough to hold corporate events, meetings and private parties," a memo advises the city council.

The Minors told Joliet officials they plan to hire 30 to 40 employees, documents indicate. At the Jan. 8 city's liquor commission hearing, nobody showed up to oppose the Class B liquor license.
