St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School Giants Baseball Team Honored With Proclamation by Will County Board

Giants Baseball Team Honored for Achievements

JOLIET—St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School’s baseball team was honored by the Will County Board and the Will County Executive at a meeting on January 15, 2015. The Giants were recognized for their outstanding achievement in 2014 when the team defended its 2013 title by again winning the Class 1A IESA State Championship on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

This was the sixth appearance in the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) State Baseball Tournament for St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School Giants baseball.

St. Paul is the only grade school in Illinois to boast four IESA State Baseball Championships in the last decade. Titles were also earned in 2006, 2007 and 2013.

The 2014 IESA Class 1A State Champions include: 8th graders, Josh Bolek, Caden Boggetto, Max Cullen, Dolan Glasgow, Christian Heino, Dylan Hensley, Jack McGinnis, Reed Ohlson, Sebastian Pantoja, Dean Procarione, and Alex Vera; 7th Graders, Vinny DeFilippo , Danny Mangun, Owen Roesel, Cameron Seeman and Nathan Seeman.

Max Cullen, Dolan Glasgow, Reed Ohlson and Dean Procarione were starters on both the 2013 and 2014 championship teams.

St. Paul Head Coach is Mike Melone. He was assisted by Vinny DeFilippo, Pat McGinnis, Mike Roesel and Rigo Vera.
