Stabbing At Plainfield Road Laundromat: Joliet Police Arrest 1
This was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public, Joliet police said.

JOLIET, IL — A 26-year-old Joliet man who plunged his knife into the chest of an 18-year-old man is now in the Will County Jail following Saturday afternoon's stabbing at the Route 30 Laundromat at 905 Plainfield Road, Joliet police said.
According to Sunday's press release, Oscar Alonso Ortiz is now facing three counts of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events took place around 12:45 p.m. at the Route 30 Laundromat once officers learned that the stabbing happened:

- An officer saw a young man in the laundromat parking lot holding a knife. The male dropped the knife when commanded by the officer. He was placed into custody without incident and identified as Alonso Ortiz. Joliet police also recovered the knife used in the violent attack.
- Officers learned that an 18-year-old male had been stabbed in the chest while outside of the laundromat and was already taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center in a private vehicle.
- "It was believed that Alonso Ortiz was the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s girlfriend and that Alonso Ortiz had arrived and stabbed the victim with the knife while both were outside of the laundromat," English announced.
- At Ascension St Joseph Medical Center, Joliet police learned that the victim suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound to the chest.
"This was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public," English announced.
