Stabbing Victim Dies 1 Week After Jefferson Street Violence
Joliet police issued a Monday evening news release announcing the 59-year-old man died from his injuries.

JOLIET, IL — A 59-year-old Joliet man who was stabbed last week on Joliet's West Jefferson Street has died from his injuries. Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that Rickey Moffett died Friday evening at St. Joe's hospital, making Moffett's death a homicide.
Around 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 1, Joliet police responded to the Murphy's Express gas station at 2504 West Jefferson St. after learning of a stabbing victim on the property.
Moffett entered the gas station and indicated to an employee that he was injured. Joliet police say he was stabbed in the chest. He was in critical condition for five days before he died.

This case continues to be under investigation as a homicide, English said.
