STORIES R Us in Lockport

Storytelling has returned to Lockport

STORIES R Us found a home at Nik and Ivy Brewing, 1026 S. State Street, Lockport. Five Fab storytellers will share their tales on Wednesday, December 14th. The evening begins at 6:30 with music by Harold McCay then at 7 p.m. the tellers take the stage. This month Stories R Us welcomes Steve Streit, Mayor of Lockport; Keith White, Professor Emeritus of Lewis University; Steve Eberhard, former owner of Camera House West; Erroll McLendon, storyteller extraordinaire, and Barbara Eberhard, producer and host.

Steve Streit is a former Navy man and a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago . He founded OH Design Group in 1999. For over twenty years, he has used his design and marketing skills to help people connect to the marketplace and communities they wish to thrive in. He has been mayor of the City of Lockport for the last 9 years and appreciates the privilege of serving his community. In his free time he builds secret doors for his historic home and loves to go on adventures with his wife Wendy and their two teenage daughters. He was thrilled when another male was added to the household- his main man Percy the cat.

Keith White is a Professor Emeritus of Theatre at Lewis University. Retired in May of 2020, he has directed over 70 productions, served as Chair of the department for twenty years, and taught classes such as Acting, Direction, Voice and Diction, and Musical Theatre Performance. A 1977 graduate of Lewis in Speech Education, he returned to Lewis as Theatre Manager after becoming a member of the Indianapolis Ballet and then performing for two years at Chicago's Candlelight Dinner Theatre. After receiving his Master of Fine Arts from NIU, he once again returned to Lewis to tech as a full-time instructor.

Photographer, pilot and former owner of Camera House West, Steve Eberhard is a born storyteller. Always a roady for whatever new project his wife comes up with!

Errol McLendon is a Chicago solo performer and storyteller and a recent Moth winner. His stories have been heard all over the Chicago area, in Jonesborough, TN at the National Storytelling Festival and by many people unfortunate enough to sit next to him in a bar or coffee shop. Last October, Errol could be found telling ghost stories at The Pollyanna Roselare Tap Room in Schaumburg, The Annoyance Theatre and The Little Traveller in Geneva. Errol also has a solo show, Inner State Stories, which will be a part of the Filet of Solo Festival at Lifeline Theatre early next year and will tour next summer. Errol’s alter ego portrays patients for medical students in order to teach them communication skills. Errol loves telling and hearing stories, so find him in a bar or coffee shop and tell him your story.
