Earlier this year, the 5th-grade and 6th-grade William B. Orenic Intermediate School Student Council helped package groceries at the St. John's Lutheran Church Food Pantry in Joliet, IL.

“We had 28 students attend, and they really enjoyed helping the pantry and hope to continue helping them in the future,” W.B.O. Student Council Advisor and math teacher Loretta McKnight said.

She added that some of the students went "shopping," while others were "stocking," and another group of students helped bag up baby supply bags.

“Everyone was busy,” McKnight said. “We helped out for almost two hours and made 600 bags of groceries. Between our work and the perishable items, 300 families went home with six bags of groceries for that weekend.”
