Sue Regis Glass Art Closing 'Because Of My Health Issues'
One of Joliet's most talented artists, Sue Regis made the announcement on her Facebook page. Her studio is near downtown's library.

JOLIET, IL — One of Joliet's most prolific and top talented artists, Sue Regis, announced that she is closing her Sue Regis Glass Art storefront in downtown Joliet because of her health issues.
Joliet Patch has published multiple articles on Regis over the years. In December 2021, Patch reported that for the first time ever, the city of Joliet has a small business recognized by the Illinois Office of Tourism's annual Illinois Made Holiday Gift. Only 20 small businesses in the entire state were selected for the honor — Sue Regis Glass Art was one of the winners.
"I think it puts Joliet more on the map. To be chosen for this gift guide, I'm honored and so excited that I'm the first business for Joliet, especially in downtown Joliet," Regis told Joliet Patch during that interview. "It's nice to have something positive in the news, especially for downtown Joliet."

On Thursday, Regis announced on her Facebook pages "there is no easy to say this so I'm just going to say it — Unfortunately, Sue Regis Glass Art will be closing ... I have had a good 18-year run but unfortunately because of my health issues I can't continue. Thank again to everyone for all the support, encouragement and love. It means so much and I'm forever grateful."
In Thursday's store closing announcement, Regis let everyone know that she will be selling a bunch of items and plans to do some studio garage sales in the coming days. She has tables, chairs, stools, cabinets, tools, tents and display cases. "I will also be selling glass and glass equipment," she wrote.

Much of her business has involved memorials. Regis makes memorials enclosed in glass for cremains of pets and humans. Most of her pet memorials involve dogs and cats, but she has done birds and rabbits.
Her retail store is at 32 West Clinton St. She is next door to the Strange and Unusual Gallery, which is owned and operated by Christine Nordstrom and Terry Eastham. The storefronts are across from the Joliet Public Library.
Regis has been at her current storefront since 2018.
