Suspicious Man Enters Joliet House, Displays Knife: Police

The intoxicated 39-year-old man had entered the Joliet residence on Kelly Avenue without the homeowner's permission, Joliet police said.

JOLIET, IL — A 39-year-old intoxicated Lockport man was arrested late Thursday night on Joliet's west side after he went a stranger's house and pulled out of a knife on their property, vowing to bring harm to people who he didn't know, according to Joliet police.

Officers were called to the 1100 block of Kelly Avenue where they later hauled away Robert Wagner in handcuffs, charging him with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

Around 11:45 p.m. Joliet police were notified a suspicious man had entered someone's house. The 1100 block of Kelly is right near Ingalls Avenue.

"Officers learned that an intoxicated male had entered the residence without the homeowner’s permission," police spokesman Dwayne English announced.

English said the residents managed to talk Wagner into leaving their residence, but once he got outside,"Wagner made comments that he would cause harm to the home and opened a pocket knife while speaking to the residents."

English said that fellow officers found Wagner walking down the street, and he was placed into custody without incident.

Wagner was later released from Joliet police custody on an I-Bond, police reports reflect.
