Congratulations to Taft Elementary School fourth-grade students in Anne Flaherty, Patricia Ledbetter, and Caitlin Ratajczak’s classrooms for coordinating a school-wide sock collection drive for MorningStar Mission. Over 150 pairs of new socks were collected. The students packed up three pairs of socks in individual bags decorated by the students with kind notes that were delivered to the local shelter before the holidays. This is the fourth year the Taft students and families donated socks to the emergency shelter.

“I am so proud of our students,” said Taft teacher Anne Flaherty who spearheaded the community service project. “The mission guests were thrilled with the donations.”

Earlier in the school year, the fourth-grade students also collected blankets and towels for Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue. Taft Elementary School is part of Joliet Public Schools District 86, which serves the city of Joliet.
