Target: New Joliet Distribution Center Hiring 200 Employees

JOLIET, IL — Target Corporation issued a press release Monday afternoon indicating that it will be opening a new distribution center in Joliet in two months. Target plans to create 200 new jobs in the Joliet area over the next year, adding to the nearly 800 team members already working at nearby Target stores, the company announced.

The news was also welcomed by city of Joliet officials.

"We are very happy Target selected Joliet for its newest operation. Joliet is home to a lot of big buildings but this one is one of the biggest. It's great to have it filled and bring more jobs to Joliet," remarked Derek Conley, the city of Joliet's economic development specialist.

Target said it is now hiring warehouse workers, operations managers and clerical staff to work at the center, which is located at 3300 Channahon Road. The 1.2 million-square-foot facility will begin operations in November, Target representatives informed Patch.

"We're currently hiring and look forward to bringing new jobs to the Joliet community," said Matt Jefferies, Target's senior director of distribution, who will oversee the facility. "Target has a strong commitment to local communities and we look forward to providing our Joliet team with the chance to build meaningful skills and careers."
