Teen, 14, Suffers Medical Emergency As Father, 66, Arrested On Disorderly Conduct Charges By Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department arrested a 66-year-old man late Sunday night at the Riverwalk Homes public housing complex in connection with a disorderly conduct charge.

According to the arrest logs, at 10:47 p.m., the officers responded to an apartment at the Riverwalk Homes Apartments, 316 North Bluff Street, for a disturbance.

Police spokesman Dwayne English said that fellow officers were notified that Joliet Fire Department paramedics had been dispatched to the apartment and were treating a 14-year-old juvenile who was experiencing a medical emergency.

Due to the reported severity of the juvenile’s condition, paramedics determined that the juvenile required further medical treatment at a hospital. The juvenile’s father, identified as Nathaniel Browner, 66, of Joliet, reportedly refused to allow the juvenile to be transported.

During the incident, Browner was advised not to call 911 for the purpose of requesting a police supervisor, as a supervisor was already on scene, English explained.

"Despite this warning, Browner allegedly called
911 when no new emergency existed. Browner was subsequently taken into custody without
incident," English pointed out.

The juvenile was placed into protective custody and transported by the Joliet Fire Department to St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified, and the juvenile was later released into the care of another family member.

As for Browner, he was charged with felony disorderly conduct. He was processed at the Joliet Police
Department and released on a Notice to Appear in court.
