Tequila Trouble In Elwood, 'Defendant Advised That If He Did Not Cooperate, He Would Be Tasered': Cops
Antonio Cid comes from South State Street Lockport. He spent three days in the Will County Jail but regained his freedom over the weekend.

JOLIET, IL — Despite efforts by the Will County State's Attorney's Office to keep 47-year-old Antonio Cid of Lockport in the Will County Jail following his arrest by Elwood's Police Department, Will County's weekend courthouse judge Rolonda Mitchell ruled otherwise, ordering Cid's release under electronic monitoring.
Prosecutors have charged Cid with three crimes of domestic battery and two crimes of resisting a peace officer.
According to court files, on May 7, Elwood police responded to a house in the 100 block of West Gardner Street at 9:38 p.m. for a domestic. The woman indicated Cid was drinking Tequila and when she closed the windows, he slapped her across the face with an open hand and yelled at her. She told Elwood police Cid "had been drinking a bottle of Tequila and was argumentative," court files show.

Elwood police saw Cid on the front porch using his phone. The officers told him to hang up his call so they could talk with him, but he refused and yelled profanities at them. He claimed the woman had slapped him in the face during their argument. Finally, the officers ordered Cid to hang up his call and come off the porch, and he told them he would not do that.
"Defendant was advised that if he did not cooperate, he would be tasered," prosecutors revealed. "Officer Lohmar grabbed defendant's left arm and ordered him off the porch and defendant began to pull away."

Eventually, Cid refused to get inside the Elwood police car, prosecutors indicated. "An officer had to relocate to the opposite side of the squad car to pull defendant through due to his resisting."
Elwood police realized it would be too dangerous to bring Cid into the police station "due to defendant's level of aggression. Defendant remained in the back seat of the squad car due to his combativeness, use of profanity and disorderly conduct," prosecutors told Judge Mitchell.
In the end, Cid was driven to the Will County Jail and booked into custody. Later, Elwood police reinterviewed the victim and her back was hurting.
She was taken by Elwood Fire and Rescue to the St. Joe's Hospital in Joliet. She gave an interview statement recorded on police body camera, revealing that "she closed the windows to the residence because she was cold. Defendant, who had been drinking since approximately 6 p.m., began to yell at her. As she tried to get away from him, he grabbed her by the face and started yelling at her. He then grabbed her by both her arms and began to shake her. She was was able to pull herself away and call the police," prosecutors noted.
Cid's criminal history is nearly one and a half pages long. He had a 2018 domestic battery involving the same victim, but the charge was dismissed before the trial took place. His 17 other criminal cases all happened in Cook County including a 2013 domestic battery and a 2012 DUI. He had domestic battery charges in 2011, battery causing bodily harm in 2008, reckless conduct in 2006, domestic battery in 2004 and 10 other criminal cases from the 1990s.
