JOLIET, IL — Thriveworks, a provider of in-person and online counseling and psychiatry services, opened its first clinic in Joliet on Tuesday morning, expanding community access to affordable, high-quality mental health services.

The new mental health initiative sees the City of Joliet pledge $400,000 to fund mental health services through Thriveworks and Silver Cross Hospital for the city’s underinsured and uninsured, including low-income residents.

Uninsured residents will be able to access Thriveworks’ mental health services through a voucher dispatched by the City of Joliet Fire Department while residents with insurance will have any out-of-pocket expenses covered.

The partnership will be a first for the city and follows the implementation of city-provided and Thriveworks' facilitated mental health services for first responders and educators earlier this year, the company announced in Tuesday's news release.

“We believe all Joliet residents deserve access to mental health services, despite their insurance coverage or financial circumstances. The last couple of years' stresses have created even more urgent demand for such services, and we are committed to closing the needs gap," Joliet Mayor Bob O'Dekirk remarked in Tuesday's news release.
