Timothy Hinton, 30, Charged With Beating Girlfriend: Police

He punched his girlfriend, 20, "in her face and her body numerous times with a closed fist," according to Joliet police.

JOLIET, IL - Timothy Hinton finds himself locked up in the Will County jail, with a $150,000 bond, after being charged with two felonies, aggravated domestic battery and obstruction of justice. The 30-year-old Joliet man is accused of beating up his 20-year-old girlfriend on Thursday morning. According to police, a witness saw the couple arguing in the street in the 900 block of Highland Avenue. "According to our witness, and also the victim, he was hitting her in the face and her body numerous times with a closed fist," Joliet's Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said.

Hinton also "choked her neck, and she was partially losing the ability to breathe," Gregory indicated.

The witness called Joliet police. Hinton, who lives in the 1100 block of Woodrow, tried to run. But he didn't get far. Police caught him on Highland Avenue. He was handcuffed and taken to jail, which is where he remains. Booking logs reflect Hinton also faces two domestic battery felonies from an incident in June and a misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property, also from June.

According to Joliet police, Thursday's domestic violence incident stemmed from a dispute over a cell phone.
