Tinted Windows On BMW, Habitual Criminal Arrested: Joliet Police

Joliet police say they made the traffic stop on David Robertson's BMW in the 400 block of East Benton Street for tinted windows.

JOLIET, IL — A 53-year-old out of town man who remains in the Will County Jail had a loaded 9 mm gun in his pocket even though David J. Robertson is a convicted felon, Joliet police reports show.

Robertson remains in detention and his bail was set $100,000. Robertson is being charged with armed habitual criminal, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by felon, No FOID card, unlawful possession of ammunition and manufacture/delivery of marijuana.

Joliet police Sgt. Dwayne English said Friday's traffic stop happened at 8:35 p.m. in the 400 block of East Benton Street because Robertson's BMW had tinted windows.

Following the traffic stop, Joliet police learned that Robertson’s driver’s license was revoked, and Robertson did not have auto insurance, English noted.

On Benton Street, officers recovered a loaded gun from Robertson's jacket pocket and Robertson was placed into custody without incident, police reports state.

Officers searched the vehicle and recovered marijuana. English noted.

In addition, Robertson was cited for tinted windows, driving while license revoked and operating an uninsured motor vehicle and his BMW got towed away.

Arrest logs indicate Robertson does not live in Joliet. He comes from Blue Island.
