Tinted Windows Traffic Stop: 2 Arrested, Cocaine, Gun Seized: JPD

Joliet police arrested Adrian Clark, 33, and Julyssa McCoy, 27, during a 2:45 a.m. traffic stop Sunday at State Street and Liberty Street.

JOLIET, IL — While most of Joliet was sound asleep, overnight patrol officers arrested a 33-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman in connection with allegations they had cocaine and a loaded gun inside their car around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

Adrian Clark was booked into Will County's Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition and having no FOID. His female companion in the car, Julyssa McCoy, 27, was booked into custody on charges of possession of controlled substances.

The 2:45 a.m. traffic stop happened at State and Liberty Streets because of a registration violation and for having illegally tinted windows, police reports show.

Clark was the driver and McCoy was his passenger.

"While speaking to officers, Clark indicated that there was a handgun in the center console of the vehicle," police announced.

After making McCoy and Clark step outside, "officers observed suspected cocaine on the floor below where she had just been seated. She was placed into custody without incident," police indicated.

Additionally, officers recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun in the center console and Clark was placed into custody without incident and the vehicle was towed, police stated. Clark was also cited for having a suspended vehicle registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Clark lives in the 1200 block of Ada Street. He was released from custody on Sunday after posting 10 percent of his $5,000 bail. McCoy was also released on Sunday after posting 10 percent of her $5,000 bail. She lives in the 2400 block of Joliet's Burbank Street.
