Troy CCSD 30-C School Upgrades

Students and staff returned to school on August 16 to several upgrades throughout the district.

After a busy summer of renovation projects at Troy CCSD 30-C schools, students and staff returned to school on August 16 to several upgrades at the buildings. The library at William B. Orenic Intermediate School was completely renovated this summer. The project included flooring installation and furniture replacement. The library now has modular seating to allow for increased learning opportunities for students. "The newly-renovated library is a wonderful space available to everyone at WBO; it now contains more comfortable seating options, a well-curated collection of books, and collaborative spaces for learning. Students and staff will have an easier time finding a book that connects to them, which will lead to a more positive reading experience for all." - Carrie Upjohn, Library Resource Center Facilitator.

The gymnasium floor at Heritage Trail Elementary School was replaced with a new luxury vinyl plank floor. This provides for a better educational experience for indoor play for all students.

The District continues to look for underutilized spaces in the schools that can be converted for another use to positively impact their students. One example of this is the locker room conversion that was completed at Troy Middle School. The lockers still remain on the outer walls of both rooms to accommodate student athletes for games and practices. The remainder of one of the locker rooms has been converted into a health classroom and the other room has been converted into a fitness classroom. The additional classrooms allow for increased learning opportunities for students and additional after school clubs, such as the new TMS Yoga Club.

As technology continues to grow, Troy 30-C is excited to be adding eSports to the over 80 clubs and athletic opportunities available in the district. A computer classroom at William B. Orenic Intermediate School is receiving upgrades and will be used as an eSports arena after school. The room serves as an enhanced technology classroom during the school day. Troy 30-C expects 5th - 8th grade students to begin competing in eSports this school year.

In addition to the interior projects at Troy 30-C schools, both Craughwell Elementary School and Hofer Elementary School’s parking lots and sidewalks were replaced. This project consisted of completely removing the deteriorating parking lots and replacing them with new asphalt parking lots. The projects were completed with restriping the parking lots for more efficient pick-up and drop-off of students.
