Troy Middle School Girls Bowling Team places 2nd in State

Other Troy bowling teams, individuals, also score high

The four Troy 30-C bowling teams did well at the IESA State Finals Bowling Tournament this year, with The Troy Middle School Girls Bowling Team placing 2nd out of the 68 Illinois teams competing.

Troy Middle School Girls - 2nd in the State
The team included Mia Antomez, who placed 3rd individually, averaging 187 for 10 games, and Samantha French, who placed 4th individually, also averaging 187 for 10 games.

Also on the team were Gianna Mendoza, who placed 8th; and Malorie Berry, who placed 11th. Alternates Mia Eggman averaged 137, and Kaitlyn MacDonald averaged 133.

Troy Middle School Boys - 11th in the State
Individually, Tyler Bishop placed 8th; Michael Schlottman placed 41st; and Andrew Markun placed 75th.

Nicolas Cavada, who bowled two games at state, averaged 130 at the Troy Invite; Sean Hogan, who bowled one game at state, averaged 128 at the Troy Invite; and Josh Escalante, who bowled one game at state, averaged 127 at the Troy Invite.

William B. Orenic Intermediate School Girls - 16th in the State
Individually, Jordyn Jinks placed 41st; Shailyn Perryman placed 74th; Hailey Smidl placed 99th; and Ainsley Wellman placed 122th.

William B. Orenic Intermediate School Boys - Individual advancers only
Individually, Tim Besler placed 33rd; David Brunner placed 37th; and Kevin McGowan placed 83rd.

The coach of the teams is Julie Brandolino.

“I am so proud of our Troy bowlers,” Brandolino said. “Their determination, sportsmanship, and support of each other was inspiring during the state finals. If one person was struggling, their teammates would give them encouraging words and advice. They kept each other motivated to throw one good shot at a time. It was a blast to be a part of such a wonderful group of student-athletes.”


“Troy is so fortunate to have bowling teams at both Troy Middle School and at William B. Orenic Intermediate School,” Troy Athletics and Activities Director Meagan DeGroot said. “Both the boys and girls teams put in so much work outside of the Troy practices. Their determination to succeed is amazing. I enjoyed watching them bowl at state, and I look forward to watching them in the future.”


The competition was held at the Joliet Town and Country Lanes.
