Truck Stolen At Crest Hill Gas Station, DuPage County Won't Let This Criminal Out Of Jail: Bob Berlin
At the Target, Michael Addison selected two garbage cans and placed $2,642 worth of merchandise in the garbage cans, prosecutors revealed.

CREST HILL — Longtime DuPage County State's Attorney Bob Berlin issued a Facebook press release revealing that 39-year-old long-time criminal Michael Addison — who was already on electronic monitoring — was involved in stealing a vehicle from a Crest Hill gas station and went on to commit several more crimes in DuPage County on Wednesday night.
The prosecution's motion to detain Addison, who comes from DeKalb, was granted by DuPage County Judge Joshua Dieden. At the time of Wednesday night's crime spree starting in Will and ending in DuPage County, Berlin said Addison had an outstanding arrest warrant out of DuPage County for unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, and was on electronic monitoring out of McHenry County for a burglary and retail theft.
According to Thursday's announcement from Berlin, at approximately 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Crest Hill Police Department learned that a black 2023 Ford Maverick pick-up truck was stolen from a gas station.

Authorities tracked the vehicle to the Target store on Kingery Highway in Willowbrook, and at 8:12 p.m., Willowbrook's Police Department saw Addison running out of the store carrying two garbage cans, the prosecutor noted.
"It is alleged that Addison put the garbage cans in the Ford, entered the truck and fled the scene, striking a parked vehicle on the way out," Berlin said.

From there, Addison travelled northbound on Route 83 to the eastbound exit for I-88, where he was spike-stripped by Oak Brook police officers, Addison continued driving to I-294 southbound, where he crashed at the York Road exit, the prosecutor noted.
When Addison tried to run, he was captured by Oak Brook police, according to officials.
Regarding the shoplifting at the Target store, Addison found two garbage cans and placed $2,642 worth of merchandise into the garbage cans, including pharmaceuticals and personal care items, and then left the store without paying for the merchandise, Berlin explained.
Inside the stolen truck, Oak Brook police found two guns, one unloaded Smith & Wesson .38mm and one loaded Canik 9mm, Berlin said.
"It is alleged that last night, Michael Addison, a man on electronic monitoring with multiple felony convictions including armed habitual criminal and burglary, repeatedly thumbed his nose at the law when he stole a man’s vehicle, burglarized a Target store, fled from police and was in possession of two firearms,” Berlin declared. “This type of complete disregard for public safety and the criminal justice system will not be tolerated in DuPage County. By law, as a convicted felon, Mr. Addison has lost his right to legally possess a firearm."
Addison made his first court appearance in DuPage on Thursday. He's charged with:
- Unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender
- 2 counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon
- burglary
- possession of a stolen motor vehicle
- retail theft
- aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon/No FOID
