Much-Anticipated Smoky's BBQ Opens Next Week
The owners are shooting for a Wednesday opening date, but will announce it for certain on their Facebook page.
Restless barbecue fans eager to sample the fare at Smoky's BBQ House should sleep a little easier now knowing the wait is nearly over.
The new restaurant passed its final health inspection Wednesday, will start cooking Thursday and will open the doors to its first customers next week, spokesman Marina Christos said.
They're shooting for Wednesday but it may end up being a little later in the week, Christos said. Once they know for sure, she said, the date will be posted on their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/smokysjoliet.

The sitdown restaurant, located at 2314 W. Jefferson St., fills the spot last held by The Hot Skillet. Owner Tony Christos also owns the Silver Spoon restaurant at 1601 W. Jefferson St.
Marina Christos said Smoky's will specialize in barbecue, including ribs, chicken, pulled pork and beef brisket, but will also offer paninis, burgers, salads and other menu fair. Prices will be competitive, with a slab of ribs going for about $18 and sandwiches about $7, she said.
