UCP's 59th Annual Meeting and Dinner

UCP's Annual Meeting, Dinner and Awards

United Cerebral Palsy of Illinois Prairieland (UCP) held its 59th Annual Meeting and Dinner Tuesday, October 7, 2014. The membership voted to change the name of the agency to the Center for Disability Services. Our supports and services to individuals in Illinois will continue as they have been including those with Cerebral Palsy. However, we serve and support daily many developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injuries, dually diagnosed individuals and autism. We believe the name Center for Disability Services more accurately represents who we are and what we do.

Five employees were recognized for their years of service and five program participants were recognized for their years of program participation. Thanks and appreciation was extended to departing Board members Tom Manigan and Paul Siegel. Two new Board members, Micah Manore and Mary Spreitzer, were approved and will begin their term of service in November.

In 1985, the UCP Board of Directors established the Melvin J. Larson Distinguished Award to recognize an individual for their outstanding volunteer service to the agency. The award was presented to R. Dale Evans of the Joliet Housing Authority for his efforts in growing Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service from 12 teens to over 500 volunteers.
