JOLIET, IL — A Joliet 21-year-old now finds himself housed in the Will County Jail indefinitely after Will County Judge Jennifer Lynch imposed the SAFE-T-Act's dangerousness standard to keep Jordan Willhite in custody following his Joliet police arrest at the Walgreens pharmacy on Ingalls Avenue in recent days.

According to his criminal complaint, Willhite is charged with aggravated domestic battery and three crimes of domestic battery. He is accused of trying to strangle a woman at the Walgreens property on Jan. 17. Willhite slammed the woman to the ground, struck her on the left side of her face with a closed fist, causing the left side of her face to swell and bruise, his criminal complaint alleges.

According to the successful petition filed by the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow, Joliet police were dispatched to 1801 Ingalls Ave. —which is the Walgreens drugstore — in regard to an unconscious female.

Upon arrival, the officers detained Willhite as he was yelling at the victim, and she was already in the back of an ambulance, court documents show.

Officers immediately saw swelling on left side of her face and fresh bloody scratch marks to her neck, the prosecutors advised Judge Lynch.

At first, the woman was uncooperative with officers as she did not want to get Willhite in trouble. Officers informed her that a witness saw the defendant slam her to the ground and punch her in the face.

"After some time, she informed officers that while sitting in the vehicle with the defendant went over the center console and began to choke the victim until she was falling out of the vehicle," the petition stated. "She could barely breathe at this time. She further confirmed that outside the vehicle he slammed her to the ground and punched her in the face."

Willhite comes from the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.
